Potentate's March/April Message

Nobles and Ladies of Sesostris!!!!!!!!

WOW! Where have the first four months of the year gone? It seems like only yesterday that the wind was blowing out of the north and we were putting on the heaviest overcoat that we owned. Now the grass is greening and spring flowers are blooming.

Instead of worrying about ice on the sidewalk, we can bring out the convertibles, motorcycles and other parade equipment in readiness for the summer parades.

The 2017 Sesostris Shrine Circus is in the books. While the attendance was not what we had hoped for, we had great performances by the James Christy Cole circus performers. Of course, we always have the mouthwatering cotton candy and the ever sticky sno cones. Without the hard work of Shriners and the fantastic Shrine ladies, we would not have a circus for Sesostris. Although we are all a little tired by the end of the last performance, everyone goes home with a great feeling of satisfaction.

March and April have been busy with many balls being attended at other temples by several of our Divan.

Speaking of balls, the Sesostris Ball was held April 8 at the Cornhusker Marriott in downtown Lincoln. A great time was had by all beginning with the hospitality room in the afternoon followed by a great banquet in the evening. The night was finished with dancing and listening to the great tunes of the Fabtones. Sunday morning was fun filled with jokes by the Divan members.

I want to thank all those who contributed to success of the weekend. This wasthe only ball I have ever attended that had truck tires as decorations. Again, thanks to all!!!!!!!!!!!

The Spring Screening Clinic was held in Norfolk on April 7 with seven new patients accepted. This was a successful effort on the part of the Northeast Shrine Club. They reached out and involved the Pawnee Club of Columbus and the El Riad Temple of South Dakota. Congratulations to the Northeast Shrine Club on proving that brotherhood and cooperation work.

The Outreach Clinic was held Saturday April 8 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln with 62 patients seen, saving that many trips to the Twin Cities Hospital.

Looking to the future, we have a new event this year. Sunday June 18 we will be holding the inaugural FEZWALK. A 5k run/1 mile walk will be held at Holmes Lake Park in Lincoln. See the ad in this issue. Come out to run, walk or just watch and have fun.

Don’t forget the Spring Ceremonial on May 13. Details are in the ad in this FEZtivities. You will also want to keep busy this summer by attending and participating in the parades, beginning with the Shrine Bowl Parade in Kearney June 3.

Yours in the Faith,

Keith Will
